We will use the Short Tun as a base for intensive practice to overcome obstacles, and increase protection for loved ones and oneself. We will do specific practices drawing from the Twenty-five Spaces of Samantabhadra, The Vajra Armor, Guru Tragphur, and Simhamukha practices.

Open to members of the International Dzogchen Community (IDC). You should have received lung for these practices and no instruction will be given. A practitioner with strong aspiration and willingness to obtain the complete transmission of these practices can learn the various Tun and promise that at the first opportunity, one will obtain the causes for maturation by participating in a specific Initiation.

About this practice session:

When we talk about obstacles and protection, we can differentiate between what is essential and what is relative. Michael Katz has structured this group practice session to leave open the flexibility to work towards either of these goals.

Chögyal Namkhai Norbu (ChNN) has often mentioned that being in the natural state is the quintessential protection. However  due to our limited capacity, we may also employ other practices, such as transformation practices, and mantras, which work on a more relative level. These include practices with wrathful  deities and specific associated mantras some of which are incorporated into our TUN practices.

We have also received other mantras, which do not necessitate visualizations for example from the 25 spaces, there are many mantras which are associated with goals, such as perceiving all reality, as if it is a dream or an illusion. ChNN has also introduced another mantra the Vajra Armor mantra associated with relative protection against serious disease but without visualization. Booklets are available for all of these mantras

You will all have flexibility during our different practice sessions, so as to choose what is most appropriate for yourself.

Traditionally to employ a mantra and visualization practice one should receive a lung or transmission. In some cases ChNN had specified that sincere practitioners could begin to use a practice, with the intention of receiving the lung and instruction at a near future date.
